Story of this photo: On a brisk late October morning in Aspendell, CA - this colorful scene was captured by nature lover and photographer Lisa Meloeny. Lisa vividly remembers hiking near the old firehouse when she noticed a beautiful group of Aspens on a nearby hill just about to let go of their leaves. Setting her morning coffee on the stoney path she grabbed her trusty digital and snapped a couple memorable images of this fall grouping. Lisa adds, "I love the Aspen bark this time of year. The greyness is wonderfully haunting against the majestic colors of the leaves. Breathtaking! I grew up in this area - as a child my family used to come up here, outside of Bishop, to vacation during the many beautiful seasons. One of the cabins we rented was just yards from this tree line so it especially means a lot to me. Isn't it amazing how we don't notice all God's beauty as children - nature just flies by us while we're busy playing jump-rope." Although the complete image also included a grey mountain in the background she feels like "the fall colors and the grey bark say it all. I absolutely love when the Aspen leaves shake and blow - they just quiver and shake in the glorious light of the morning or evening."
